Amigos, amigas, chicos, chicas, just wanted to give you a shout that I got another party coming up this weekend!

As you saw in the subject line above, it’s a “Throwback To The 90s” party.

We did one exactly a year ago to the date of the upcoming, and felt “awwwww what the hell… why not do it again?!?”  Many, many of us consider the 90s to be an amazing decade of culture.  Here’s an excuse to dress up, grease up, dance and celebrate it!

We’ve got some great talent providing the ’90s soundtrack for the celebration:

DJ HUBCAP
QUEEN MAJESTY
MOE.BPM
and myself

DJ HUBCAP is a California transplant who has been making the rounds here in NYC with high quality selected and mixed sets of hip-hop, r n b, old school funk and soul, as well as house music.  He’ll be bringing us that talent in the form of a set showcasing his favorite ’90s party-starters.

QUEEN MAJESTY is well-known and highly regarded in the NYC scene and beyond for her expert selection of Jamaican styles like dub, dancehall, roots, and ska.  She rolls with the Deadly Dragon Soundsystem, and can be heard on her weekly East Village Radio show, as well as live and direct at the “Downtown Top Ranking” weekly party.  She’ll have a special ’90s reggae set — all vinyl.

MOE.BPM is a newcomer to the NYC DJ scene, but has been producing hip-hop and dance music, as well as performing hip-hop as his alter-ego, CHEDDA SHARP.  If you made it out to my birthday party and stayed to the end, you’ll remember me backing him up as he tore it up on the mic.  He’ll be bringing a ’90s set as well.

And… well, you know me!  I’ll open up the night with a selection of my favorite ’90s jump-offs.

Cover is $5, and there will be some great drink specials:

$5 Tecate + tequila shot
$6 Bacardi flavors
$6 Bud + whiskey shot

Hence, no need to break the bank to get a little lubricated and have a good night out dancing to some good music.

This is a COSTUME PARTY with a ’90s theme, so dust off those du-rags, slap bracelets, and Reebok pumps to wear out Saturday.  (costumes aren’t mandatory, however … but come on … be fun!!)

I’m really looking forward to this and hope to see you there this Saturday!!!

Saturday, October 8th
11PM – late

UC Lounge,
87 Ludlow Street (b/w Broome and Delancey Sts.),
LES, NYC

Not sure what the deal is here, but my money is on that this Lincoln Center Barnes and Noble is closed for good.  Another example of disrupting technology aka Amazon’s Kindle e-reader…

Change Bumper: “Zev – Don’t Break It (Kenny Glasgow & Jonny White Remix)”

•March 4, 2011 • Leave a Comment

Zev of Wolf + Lamb has been churning out some great chunes lately, including the original to this one…but Kenny Glasgow and Jonny White a.k.a. Art Department have had the midas touch with it.   They bless Zev’s piece with a dark, moody re-work that makes excellent use of that haunting vocal.

This one came out a while back, but it doesn’t matter; change bumpers will bump whether they’re fresh out the studio, or been out for a while.

Yes sir…
